Course: MA Photography, London College of Communication

This two-channel video The Ghost that Wasn’t samples footage from 1950s Japanese and Finnish ghost films, combining them with sound and narration to question their impact on individual, communal and cultural memories influencing perception.  Unwritten and intangible elements are reassembled to form a new narrative that celebrates a multitude of meanings, locations, symbols and styles. Displaying the video on two separate screens, Moriya’s work challenges the audience to construct their own stories.
